SURVEY: Rethink Infrastructure for a sustainable future

As part of the 18th Conference of the International Society for Ecological Economics and the 11th International Degrowth Conference, held in Oslo, Norway, IENE organised a dedicated session entitled:
“Rethinking Infrastructure: Balancing Mobility, Biodiversity, and Sustainability in a Post-Growth World.”
This session brought together researchers and practitioners to explore what it might take to transition toward more sustainable, socially inclusive and ecologically responsible transport and energy infrastructures. Presentation abstracts and discussion results can be viewed here. The discussion focused on the challenges and opportunities in aligning infrastructure planning with the principles of biodiversity conservation, social equity, and post-growth development.
To gather the diverse perspectives, IENE launched an interactive survey during the session, using Mentimeter.com, to collect input from participants. The aim was to co-create a shared vision of sustainable infrastructure and to identify both the barriers and enabling tools for its implementation.
Participants were invited to respond with keywords to the following four questions. These are the results:

1. How would you characterize your vision of a sustainable transport and energy infrastructure?

2. What barriers must be overcome to realise that vision?

3. What tools, rules or mechanisms are needed to overcome these barriers?
