A new Chairman and Vice-Chairmen for IENE

Johan Rydlöv (Ecologist, specialist constructing sustainable infrastructure at the Swedish Transport Administration), Radu Mot (President, Zarand NGO) & Vincent O’Malley (Head of Environmental Policy & Compliance, Transport Infrastructure Ireland) have been elected Chairman and Vice-Chairmen of IENE for two years.

Johan Rydlöv

Johans mains focus is environmental and sustainability issues linked to infrastructure. He has long experience with research, planning processes, systematics, environmental assessments, and nature restoration. Today he works as an National coordinator for biodiversity in the Swedish Road administration and are represented in several national cooperation’s regarding the Landscape and a sustainable land use between different societal goals.

RADU MOT

Radu Mot is the President of Zarand NGO, where he leads initiatives in habitat conservation and community engagement across Europe. As Vice President of the International Association for Ecology and Nature Conservation (IENE), he champions best practices in managing protected areas and establishing ecological corridors. With over two decades of experience in forestry and large carnivore ecology, Radu’s research focuses on balancing wildlife conservation with sustainable land use.

Vincent O’Malley

Dr Vincent O’Malley is the Head of Environmental Policy & Compliance at Transport Infrastructure Ireland, where he oversees the integration of environmental considerations into the planning and delivery of sustainable transport projects. As Vice President of the International Association for Ecology and Nature Conservation (IENE), he advocates for holistic approaches that balance infrastructure development with ecological integrity. An experienced environmentalist, Dr O’Malley specializes in ensuring that all environmental issues—from habitat protection to pollution control—are addressed throughout the lifecycle of transport infrastructure.
