Hosting organisation

Hosting organisation 2009 is the Swedish Biodiversity Centre.

The network of IENE is coördinated by a coordination centre (hosting organisation).

Until 2000 the coordination centre of the IENE was financially supported by two government institutions, namely in the period from 1996 till 1998; the Ministry of Traffic and communications (the Netherlands) and during the period from 1998 and 2000 the Swedish National Road Administrations (Swedish Government).

From August 2000  till the end of 2005 the Flanders Authority observed the coordination of the IENE organization. This coordination was financed by the Department LIN (Environment and Infrastructure) by means of a project that was granted to the University of Antwerp in coöperation with the Institute of Nature Conservation.

From 2008 the network’s secretariat is hosted by the Swedish Biodiversity Centre (CBM), situated at Uppsala, Sweden.

The tasks for the coordination centre are :

  1. The organisation hosting the IENE secretary is responsible for the employment of the IENE international coordinator.
  2. The host is responsible for providing support for :
    • Administration (financial issues)
    • Infrastructure  (physical address, telephone, internet, etc)
    • Website (technical maintenance and update)
    • Information and dissemination (printed material)
  3. The host participates at IENE Steering Committee meetings (with right to speak, not to vote)
  4. The host may cancel the employment of the IENE coordinator only in agreement with the IENE Steering Committee.
